Rooster Party

Hi,

Welcome to our second Rooster party and thanks to Barb our hostess at Bella Vista for putting it all together.
Since I am in my Tennessee Home and my roosters are in my West Virginia home I thought I would just take a little ride on the web and show you some of the unusual roosters I have found. Hey, I am up and running again. I have missed joining you for pink Saturday. Just haven't been on the puter much this year. Have got back to painting and crafting some in the last few months. Going to share a beautiful tea service I painted and sold in a local shop here in Tenn. I have painted so many of these over the years but they have all been different designs and I love the way they turn out. Hope you enjoy.

There are so many yard sales, estate sales and auctions here and I am in seventh heaven with them all. I love the hunt. Serving dishes are one of my great weakness. So hard to pass one up. This is two sweet designs I found lately. Both are china, One Austria and one Limoges. Aren't they awesome.

Gatlinburg Craftsmen Fair

Hey,

The Gatlinburg Craftsmen Fair was held in July in Gatlinburg, Tenn. If you have never visited the show, you should really make plans to do so. It has been going on for well over 35 years. Held 10 days in July and 18 days in October. We have been working this show for over 25 years. We did set out last year due to family changes, Wasn't sure I would work it again but as much as I love to paint and Create I had to get back to work. Has been a real challenge getting things to work with moved from West Virginia. We even had one of our storage buildings moved last month. Leaving a 3000 sq. foot home and moving into a 16' wide mobile home has also left me trying to figure out a place to paint. But I have managed. The Next show will open on October 6 at the Gatlinburg Convention Center. Come visit us. This was my booth this year.

I also met a wonderful lady who runs a shabby chic shop in the Dumplin Valley Flea market here in Tenn. Just off of exit 407 on interstate 40. Piegon Forge, Sevierville Exit. She has been in the market for about 14 years and has a beautiful shop. I have been selling with her since the first of the year. If you are visiting the mountains be sure you stop in for a visit.

I am listing again on Etsy, Be sure you take a look at all the new beauties. Have been working on some very beautiful teacup wreath. This is one you will find on Etsy.

Have been away from my blog for so long and with all the changes I have had to take the time to learn again. Thank to a wonderful puter friend Connie for all her help.

Time for an Update

Was November 09 that I posted last. With all the changes in our life I have just not been on the puter very much. Our new baby was on the way then. She was born on November 24 and is Morgan Paige Elaine Mullins. Elaine is in honor of my daughter and her aunt. She is now 8 months old and a joy for our life. A life ends and a new one begins. Our grand children have been the saving grace for both Darrell and I over the past year and a half. Not a day passes without my sweet daughter on my mind. Miranda is turning into a beautiful and wonderful young lady. She will be a junior this year. Will share a couple pictures with you.

this one is Morgan at birth and the next one is now, just taken tonight when I baby sit for Mom and Dad to see a movie.

This is Madison the big sister who will be 5 in a few months, and she is a wonderful big sister.

This one is Miranda who will be 17 in a few months. She has had a busy summer and looking forward to school starting in a couple weeks.

Along with all the changes in our life I have decided to sell my website. It now belongs to a local lady here in the Smoky Mountains. I will tell you more about it later. Hope all of you have had a wonderful year so far and I promise to get back in the swing and come visit you and hope you will visit me.

Good Morning, Welcome to Pink Saturday. Thought I would share a pair of Ice skates I painted last week. I have painted many of these in the past with all different designs on them but this is my first pink ones. I just added ribbons to hang them up and may just keep them for myself.

I have joined the local painting chapter in Knoxville and now just painting things mostly for myself and one of a kind, I don't think I will ever paint much to sell anymore, I am thinking about closing my website and have started to get rid of a lot of stock. I have a number of items on ebay auctions right now, I have so much stock just not sure with all the changes in our life that I want to continue with it. Will have to decide in the next few months, Check out the listing for some great deals.

Happy Halloween and waiting for new sister

The holidays are so much fun when you have little ones around, Madison is our four year old. She was a black cat for Halloween and I must say a beautiful one. She and her Mom and Dad had big plans to celebrate with trick or treating and Boo at the Zoo but Mother nature did not cooperate and it came a down pour that lasted the evening and most of the night.

She still had a great time.

We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of her baby sister. As per this weeks doctor visit he says probably on the 22 of this month. Guess we will have a thanksgiving baby. Madison is so excited for her arrival. Her name will be Morgan Page Elaine Mullins. She will have the third name in honor of her Aunt Stacey, my daughter who we lost earlier this year. Time goes by so fast. She has been gone for 8 months now. God takes one life and sends another, We found out just a couple weeks after Stacey passed that Morgan was on the way. She will be her guardian angel. Give your children an extra hug and kiss this evening as you do not know how many more days you will have together. I know in my heart she is in a better place and We will all see each other again someday. Miranda also had planned a big

party for Halloween which also got rained out.

Amazing Gel candles

I am finally starting to work on my website again. With all the changes in our life this year it has just got pushed to the back burner, Family is the most important thing in my life. Miranda started school in August in her Sophomore year and after just 4 days in school she came down with Mono. This was my first experience with Mono and like nothing I have ever seen, It littlerly wiped out her energy and she was vomiting a lot. The doctor said there are no meds for this just has to run its course and to let her rest as much as she wanted. They set her up to be home schooled so she would not get behind in her classes, She was out for about 5 weeks. Is back to school now but will take months for her energy level to get back to normal.

The weather here is gorgeous today, Is in the 30ies of the morning but getting up in the 70ies of the day and we have snow on the mountain tops.

The great thing about living here in Tenn. is all the Estate sales we have. Watch for some great merchandise to be added to my web site and to Etsy.

This week I came across a lady who does the most amazing gel candles, They fill your kitchen with the aroma of fresh baked cakes and pies. Her work is the best I have come across. We have limited quanties at this time,

I started listing them on the web site today, Be sure you come by and take a look.

One of the things I love about living in Tennessee is there are so many wonderful Estate sales and auctions in our area.

These awesome treasures are from an auction I attended a couple of weeks ago. It is so hard not to spend more than I intended, when at the auction.

This beautiful Victorian design was made in occupied Japan.
I was lucky enough to get two of this wonderful lady . A true Victorian beauty.

All of these pieces will be for sale in the coming days on my website and Etsy. It has been so hard to get back to business on my website with all the changes in our life this year. I plan to have it all back on track by the first of the year. My customers have been so wonderful and understanding.

Good Morning, The fall has arrived here in Tennessee and the mountains are beginning to change. I will share the beautiful colors with you as the month goes along but this week I had the pleasure of attending a decorative painting seminar.

Our local chapter, The rocky top chapter, brought in a professional teacher for us to paint with.

She is Lynn Deptula, from Grand Rapids Michigan. The class was wonderful, We spent two day with her at a beautiful little church in Wears Valley.

There were app. 15 ladies each day.

These are the two projects I painted. As most of you know I have been painting for about 30 years and I love it.

Happy Birthday and Pink Saturday

What better way to celebrate pink Saturday than with a beautiful little girl all dressed in Pink, Madison Brooke turned four years old on the 19 of Sept. She is our granddaughter from our son Joseph and his wife Michelle.

She along with Miranda are the joy in our life. We are very lucky to get to spend lots of time with her as she lives next door to us in Tenn.

She had a party of Saturday, on Friday night we took her to J.C. Pennies studio to have pictures made. She loves posing for the camera as you can see. Her doll was dressed in the same outfit as she. She comes to my house many times in the day to get ice cream cones, Of course this is what Mamaw is for. Grand Children are the great joy in our life.

She had a few friends over on Saturday for a party. Her favorite toy right now are pet shop pets. She carries them in a little bag everywhere she goes and has a name for each one. The wonderful parts is she will have a sister born in December, They plan to call her Morgan. This will make us three beautiful girls, Miranda, Madison, and Morgan.
A couple weeks ago we were all traveling home from W.V and when we arrived in our drive way. I just looked up and said Thank You Lord and Madison said you are welcome Mamaw. So Sweet.

Very sorry for the delay, My life has changed so much and this thing with a teenager is keeping me very busy, always someplace to go or something to do. I am sure most of you know what it is like.

Happy Pink Saturday

Talk about Pink, This is the ultimate in pink luxury, A pink Thunderbird, I'm not sure of the model. I have a hard time telling a volkswagon from a Cadillac. LOL! We had a car show in town, Pigeon Forge, Tenn., last weekend. Called Shades of the past. You could see every kind of car you can imagine. Isn't if funny how cars bring back a specific memory from our past. Years ago, there were not many car companies so you could tell which one you were looking by just a glance, except me of course, now there are so many different companies, they just all look alike.

These are a few of the others we saw. The first car Darrell and I purchased after we were married was a 1968 Camaro super sport. Gold and black convertible, Do I wish we had that car now. If I ever hit the lottery I will find one to purchase. lol!

The first car we purchased for our son in 1997 was a 1987 transam. At the time it had been garage kept and was in mint condition with very low mileage. He still has it and plans to keep it. hopefully someday he will be able to restore it. Of course being a teenager he put a few dents in it.

This weekend there is another show and it is the rod run.

Not So Shabby

NOT SO SHABBY

This is the name of a wonder shop in our town. As most of you know we now live in Tennessee, We are right in the heart of Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. The craft capital of the United States. If you can't fine it here It isn't made.

Not So Shabby is a wonderful little shop for the Shabby Chic decorator and is located in Sevierville in the Governors Crossing Shopping Plaza, which is located just across the street from the Walmart and we all know most of us can find the Walmart in any town. LOL!

Jennifer, the owner will greet you at the door with a smile and a how are you doing. You will love the shopping if you are a Shabby Chic decorator. Much of the wonderful merchandise has been created by Jennifer or other artist from this area. I have added a few items to her shop. Be sure when you visit that you let her know you read about her here on the blog.

This is one of the top vacation destinations on the East Coast and I am sure a lot of you have come for a visit.

Also remember the Gatlinburg Craftsmen fair will be going on for the month of October and the changing of the seasons here in the fall is a site to behold.

Come Enjoy the Pink, It's Saturday again

My beauty in pink today comes from a trip to the flea market, We were visiting the flea market in Milton W.V. a couple of summers ago. I came across a booth on the outside of the building with some of the most beautiful pieces I had seem at a flea market in some time and so low priced I could not believe it.

Needles to say I began to shop, The lady was a very small elderly Italian lady, She I began to talk as I made my purchases, She told me her husband had cancer and she was clearing out a lot of her house for the extra money, most of her items had come from Italy with them many many years ago. It was so sad to hear her story. I purchased 8 or 10 items from her, This beautiful vase is marked on the bottom and has Italy on it. I bought it because I loved it. Sits in a perfect spot on the mantel. I think I paid $10.00 if I remember correctly. Perfect for Pink Saturday.

This wonderful Guy is the cock of the walk in our house. He comes with a story which makes him so special. My Mom, Leona who raised 7 children in our family was always so busy raising kids when we were growing up that she never had much time to do things for herself. She came from a family of 8 girls and some of them are very gifted in sewing and other hand work but Mom never had these gifts. We always teased that her gift was raising children. She was a great Mom. In the late 70ies I opened a Craft supply shop. I have enjoyed craft work most of my adult life. Since all her children were grown and she had a little time for herself she started to become involved in some of the craft classes we were having in the shop. I loved having her involved and had her join us many time. She went to a painting class with me for a year and a half.

We decided to take a class in Ceramic painting in the early 80ies and this beautiful rooster was one of her projects, When she passed away in 1993 he became mine and is one of my most treasured items. He is so colorful and really struts his stuff. He is a decoration in my kitchen.

This little guy also sits on the bakers rack in my kitchen, I have had him for a few years, I try to keep something written on the slate but don't always succeed.

These two sit on a shelf in my kitchen also.

These are a few of the roosters I have in my home. I love the more colorful ones. Have painted a few in the past and plan to paint more.

A Gift from a Wonderful Friend

Imagine my surprise when the UPS truck pulled up to my home in Tennessee yesterday, I didn't have anything ordered so was wondering if he had the wrong house. No, He was at the right house and I got a surprise package from a wonderful lady who has become a great friend. "Steph of Angelic Accents" We met about a year ago when I joined a great group of ladies through a chat group on Ebay. Steph was so sweet to send me a beautiful poem in remembrance of my Daughter. Of course I cried the rest of the day as it is all so true. Some days are so hard to get through and you can never know the pain of loosing a child unless you have been there.

Steph has shown me the kindness in her heart, It always amazes me how you can become a friend with someone you have never met and how we are all so much alike in so many ways.

I thank you sweet friend.

Stacey now lives in our heart and I love talking about and sharing all the good times we had with family and friends, Stacey was a wonderful person, Mom and friend. I am so thankful that Miranda had enough time with her Mom to have so many wonderful memories. She is now our guardian angel.

Oh! for a lighter note, My sister met her husband through the puter and from across the US. She from West Virginia and he from Orgen. They have been together for about 6 years, I will share the story with you later.

I got it right this time

Good Morning,

I finally figured out how to do it. Found a program to do the collage that works for me.

I can remember years ago when I decided to learn the puter. It was in the 80ies when the program was Dos. I purchased a puter for my business and for my children, I cleared the hard drive 3 0r 4 times trying to learn. Would have to go back into Radio Shack and have them to reinstall it. I gave up, but my son did learn, of course children always do.

Then some years later when windows 98 came out I purchased another one and haven't stopped since. I am truly amazed at what this old lady has learned. Everything I would want to learn I would call my son, who was in college at the time and he would talk me through what I wanted to do. We spent many late night hours on the phone learning. Now I can usually figure it out but sometimes it takes me a while.

This is my first collage and I love it so I will be making many many more.

This is a shelf in the end of my kitchen that houses some of my cup and saucer collection. Yes! another collection.

I am so luck my hubby, Darrell is a wonderful woodworker, I can just tell him what I am thinking of and he will make it for me. I had about 8" of space at the end of a cabinet where my oven is, He put the shelf there for me. I painted a design of blackberries down the side. Along with the cups I have a small collection of crystal salt and pepper shakes.

Good Morning and I do mean Morning, It is nearly 2:a.m. and I can't believe I am sitting at this puter. Have been playing around trying to learn some new things with my blog but not having much luck.

I traveled to Tennessee today from West Virginia, School starts on Monday for Miranda.

Today I thought I would share a few of my swan collection. I love the ones with roses on them and as you see most are pink.

I have all different sizes. have been collecting for years.
My sister gave me a sign that says everything collector and this is so right.
sometimes you look at some of the collections you have and ask why did I ever start this. My Mom use to have a thing for elephants and when she passed away she had more than 300 elephants in all sizes.

These little one are salt dips.

Hey! It's Pink Saturday again

Good Morning and Welcome to Pink Saturday. The weeks go by so fast and I must tell you I forgot I was going to post this Saturday so I was not prepared. Darrell and I came to Tennessee on Monday and are going back to West Virginia tomorrow. Our van is so use to the trip now it just knows which way we are going. We purchased the van on Memorial day and have put over 8000 miles on it already. School will start for Miranda on the 17th so we will be in Tennessee next week to settle for a while and I will be glad.

Today I have decided to share a few wonderful items with you.

The first is a vintage piece for the McCoy pottery line from 1956.

This one is a beautiful hand blown Christmas that I painted the beautiful pink roses on. I did a number of these for Christmas last year and this time I kept a few for myself.

This vintage telephone table came from a collection of antiques My Dad had. He had a building full of antique furniture. I painted and decorated this one for My brother.

This is a vintage Kerosene heater, We have made it into a floor lamp. Darrell does all the cleaning and wiring and I do the painting. We have a very hard time finding these and have customers waiting on them when they are finished.

Good Morning!
I finally got around to the good part and we have a winner. We were on a road trip for the weekend so had a little bid of a delay. A big thank you to all who entered. Just two more days

Good Morning,

The days are getting a little better for us. We have been so busy getting thing in order in Tennessee with the house that we just fall into bed at night with exhaustion. Having to get up at 5:30 every morning to get Miranda up for school is really not my cup of tea. Has been many years since I done this, The good thing though is she is very easy to get up. We are taking a little road trip this weekend over to Memphis to visit Darrells sister. Will be good to get away for a few days.

We have been painting the house and getting ready to put down some laminate flooring. My brother gave Miranda an above ground pool so I guess we will be putting it up real soon. Feels good to have young kids around in the evenings.

It doesn't seem possible my baby has been gone for a month. Time goes by so fast. My nephew brought me a song the day we buried her and it is so perfect. If you get a chance to hear it the name is sis's song by Alen Jackson. We called Stacey sis all her life and it seems as if the song was wrote just for her and it came out in March. I tried to find it to put on my blog but I guess it is to new.

Just trying to get through

Good Morning to all.

Decided it is time for me to try to write a little update to you and thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the prayers you have sent our way and for all the comments and emails, It is so amazing how people reach out to you from across the world, It really feels good.

Our world has taken a 90 degree turn. We are now parents to our sweet granddaughter. Darrell and I have been very involved in raising her since birth and I think this has made it so much easier for us to step in. She is a freshman in high school and we have decided with the loss of her Mother to not make any more drastic changes in her life for now so we are moving to Tennessee to live with her. We will spend our summer and holidays in West Virginia. This will keep her in her school and with her friends. Our son and family are there also which will help us to. We need to all be together at this time.

As I have told you before we live in a very small town in WV. Stacey was laid to rest in our family cemetery on the mountain behind the property where I was raised. Where my parents and family are buried and where Darrell and I will be also. I will share this with you in the summer when everything is green and beautiful.

To Bury one of your children is not the way it is suppose to be and it is the hardest thing, I think Darrell and I will ever face in our life. Your life changes in the time you can blink your eyes and you are on another path. With the help of our lord and family we will go on.

I can look back to the past now and see so many things that I thought were important at the time that just don't matter anymore. The material things in our life are not important as in the end the memories are all we have. Please remember this and spend as much time making memories with your family as you possible can. Please comtinue to pray for us as we will now be raising a teenager. She is the light in our life. We also have another who is just 3 years old and we will get to spend more time with her.

I have closed my etsy and ebay sites for a while. We will have very limited shipping from the website until the first of June. After the summer we will have enough moved to Tennessee to continue our business from there.

My Beautiful Daughter

It is with so much sadness that I try to write this, My beautiful daughter Stacey passed away yesterday from complications of Diabetes and other sickness, She was just 36 years old, My heart is broken and don't know how I will go on, She has a daughter Miranda who is just 15 years, With the help of my Lord, Family and friends I hope to get through the next few days. We will then move to Tennessee for a period of time to keep Miranda in her school. Please prey for my family, I only had she and her brother and two beautiful granddaughters. I don't know when I will be back on to blog again so I thank you in advance for your prayers. Please, Please, tell your family how much you love them and enjoy every minute you have, Life changes in the blink of an eye.

New Hydrangea designs

Good Morning, Good Morninggggggg! The sun is shining and the birds are singing, I think Darrell and I will start on cleaning the yard and deck this week end, Can't wait to get it done. My bleeding heart bushes are coming up in the front yard. I love the Spring.

The hydrangea designs have been selling very well for me the last month so I am in full swing to find new items to paint them on. Wanted to share these new designs with you. The first is a set of charger plates with the beautiful hydrangea painted all over them and we have included glass plates to go with them. They are sold individually as you can use it for a serving dish on the buffet. We have four available and you can find them on the web site or on Etsy.

This next piece is a plate shelf with pegs underneath. It has the groves across the shelf to set the plates in, It is very hard to picture a shelf unless it is on the wall. You will also find it for sale.

This last piece I just had to share with you. It is from my weekend junkin trip. The sweetest little creamer with hand painted roses on the front and back. You will also find it for sale.

Junkin Weekend

We went to Tennessee this weekend to visit our Kids and deliver a vehicle to our son. Wish you could have come along to hit the yard sales and the flee market. They live in the Gatlinburg area and the Dumplin Valley flee market is one of the largest in the state of Tenn. I am sorry I didn't take any picts. at the market, Next time I will. Has probably over 200 vendors and draws about 15 to 20,000 people on the weekend.

We hit some yard sales on Friday and I found a few really great deals, lace doilies, chenille bedspread, lace mantel scarf and a few other things,

At the flee market on Saturday I found the glass ware you see in the pictures, Four absolutely gorgeous McCoy cookie jars in near to Excellent condition and a vintage limoge tea service. They will all be for sale on my web site and on Etsy. Be sure you come take a peak.

Found two cake covers with glass plates that I will paint on.

Help Me name Her

Well I finally decided to get a house cat, Has been many years since I had one in the house, When Stacey, my daughter was very young her Dad brought a little black kitten home from work one day in his hat, She named him Booger and we had him for years, She treated him like a doll and would dress him in doll clothes, I think that was the last one we had in the house,

We have traveled extensively in the last 10 years with the craft shows so was very hard to have a house pet. We have decided to not work the shows now so will be home more. Decided to get a kitten for company, Was a little hard to talk Darrell into it but he is so good to me he always gives in.

He brought him home from Tenn. last week. She came from a litter at my sons house, She is mixed breed but looks Siamese. Very pretty. She has been very scared and hid in the house for the first 3 days, She is house broke, which is great, Came out at night to eat and use the litter box. She is getting better every day and likes Darrell better than Me. Every time he sits down she is on his lap to be loved and will nudge his hand to pet her.

We haven't decided what to name her. If you have any suggestions let me know.

The other morning we spent hours in the house with the flash light looking for her. Later in the day when we found her she was up on the dining room chair under the dining table.

This is her favorite place to be.

Pink Saturday in March

Hey! I have been missing in action this week and have had no time for the puter, I apologize, We had a family function last Sunday which I will blog about later this week and my Aunt stayed the week with me. Had been a while since she visited, My Mom came from a family of 8 girls and only 3 are left. I enjoyed her visit very much, She loves to craft as much as I do, I guess I inherited some of it from her. She left yesterday so I got a little time to work today.

Decided to finish some strawberry sachets I had started. I love making these, they are about 8" long and have a ribbon on the top to hand. Has a cup of sweet lavender buds in each one and are decorated beautifully. One is decorated in the pinks and one in yellow. You will find these for sale on Etsy and on the web site.

This is a beautiful little plate with a handle which I believe is called a nappy, If you know for sure let me know. I purchased it at a estate auction a few weeks ago. It is covered with the most gorgeous hand painted roses. you will also find it for sale.

And last but not least is a beautiful swan planter with the most delicate pink roses attached. I also have a collection of swans which I will share with you sometime. Hey! I told you I am an everything collector.

Thought you would like to see what I have been working on the last couple days. A gorgeous PINK Minnie Mouse. When Miranda, my gd who is now 15 was about 2 she had Minnie mouse sheets for her bed, I took a picture from the pillow case and enlarged it to make a sign for her door, She still has hers hanging in her room. Since then I have made to many to count and always make either Minnie or Mickey when we have a new baby in the family. Have also sold them for years, this week I have been working on some that my nephew and his wife are using for gifts. So what could be better to show you for pink Saturday.

A walk Down Memory Lane

This week has brought back memories from my past. Have you seen or used one of these, it is a butter mold. I come from a family of seven children, We were raised with growing our own food and having live stock even though we did not live on a farm. We always had a milk Cow, Have you ever tried to Milk a cow? I never could get any milk when I tried, My sister could. Neither did I like fresh milk and still don't, nor fresh butter, I prefer margarine, I wasn't to fond of the cow either as Sheila, my sister and I were responsible for having her to the barn two time a day to be milked. Had to go to the mountains with the dog and bring her in. Every morning and every evening,

My MOM did most of the milking, She would make buttermilk and churn butter, Sitting for hours pushing the dasher up and down in the churn to make butter was a real choir. Now, I look back to it as good times, Mom would put the butter in this butter mold along with others. When it harden you would push the plunger to get it out and it had the design in the top of the butter. This has been used in our home many many times, She would sell fresh butter and milk to neighbors, I did like the home made cottage cheese Mom would make, She would put it in a cloth and hang on the clothes line outside to drain. If you are not a country girl then you probably don't know what I am talking about, Yes we had a clothes line in the yard where we hung clothes to dry. No automatic washer or dryer. Washer was the old wringer style and the washing was done once a week.

I have so many wonderful memories of my childhood. Of course then I thought it was hard but now I know just how wonderful it was, We who were raised this way and in the country will always be able to survive no matter how bad this Economy gets.

My Dad was in the trucking business and ran a salvage yard for automobiles, This is a picture of his first Truck in the 40"s. He hauled hay from Ohio in the winter to sell and hauled watermelons from the south in the summer, My son took this old black and white photo and using the computer he colored it, so you can see both versions.

I guess the family memories have been strong these last few days as we are having a family affair this weekend, One of my older brothers, David and his wife Connie are renewing their wedding ceremony this Sunday at our Church. Hopefully all my brothers and sisters will be there.

Good Morning and It is so colddddddd here today, Can't wait for spring and the birds to sing and the flowers to bloom.

Well! on to the show. I am determined to keep my blog up to date. I am going to be looking everywhere for things to blog about. I am going to start this show with showing you more of my doll collection. I have so many, probably over 100 all over my home, I stopped collecting a few years ago as I ran out of room to put them and if I am collecting something I want them out to enjoy and when I no longer have the room it is time to stop.

This little picture tells it all. My older sister gave it to me some years ago and it is so true. I am an everything collector as you will see over this year. Darrell has always teased me as one of my favorite thing to do is peek inside other homes to see how they are decorated, Share your collections with us and let me take a peek.

This Curio Cabinet is in one end of my family room and as you can see is full of dolls and Beany Babies , But then they are another story.

This is a series of bride dolls. The story is, the first Bride is when the lady was married in the 1920's. I think this bride is the one in the middle, twenty years later her daughter was married and they refashioned the dress for her wedding and she is on the left and the date would be in the 1940's. Then in the 1960's her daughter refashioned the same dress and wore it again and she is on the right. This would be in the Jackie Kennedy era and you can tell this from the design of her dress. I missed buying the last one, and I don't know why. She would be from the 1980's.

I think this series came from the Franklin Mint but not sure, Of course when you collect you have to keep the boxes which I have tried to do so most of the certificates and papers are packed away in the boxes, I have one more bride from another series and will share her with you later.

For the pampered pooch

Talked about a pampered pooch, this is the ultimate, We have been making these for years, Made some this week so reminded me I have never shared them with you. A beautiful hand crafted feeder form our wood shop, painted with roses, hydrangea or fruit. Sometimes the customer will order to suit the room they are putting it in.

This one comes with two stainless steel bowls and has roses painted on it.

This is a smaller version for the tiny pooch or Kitty.
And this is for the TOP DOG and is personalized. I have one leaving tomorrow for a sweet little pooch in Texas named Lily, Hope she likes it. You will find these for sale on our web site and on Etsy.

Baking cookies with MaMaw

This little sweetie is my youngest granddaughter Madison, She is 4 years old. We were visiting them in Tenn, in early February and she and I decided to bake our first cookies, I rolled the dough for her and she cut them out, It was near valentines day so we used hearts, The most fun was the decorating, We made different colors of icing and of course sprinkles, She couldn't wait to get them finishes so as she decorated each one she took a bite, When her Dad came home from work she had a plate of cookies waiting for him with a bite out of each one, LOL

She and her Mom have made cookies a couple times since then, These are memories both she and I will have forever, They grow up so fast and in the end memories are all we have, She and Miranda are the only ones I have. Maybe someday I will get a grandson.

After we finished with the cookies she wanted to play dress up and paint our nails, She painted mine, A real master piece as you can see.

Hope you have grandchildren that you enjoy as much as I do mine, When they call for Mamaw, my heart melts. Just wish we lived closer to each other so I could see them every day.

My Birthday was this week

Well! when you reach my age, birthdays are something you tend to forget, I am just 39 and holding. lol! We have never been big in our family to celebrate birthdays except for the children, I had one this pasted Thursday the 26 and I am not going to tell you how old I am but just say I am old enough and now will go in reverse. To my surprise I received this sweet gift from a wonderful on line friend from our ebay group called My Romantic Home, Kattie makes the most beautiful favors using tea bags which you can use to make a cup of tea, no one will be using mine as they are to pretty, They will be on a little plate on the buffet, I will enjoy them and think of my sweet friend each time I see them.

She makes them for all occasions and special orders so go by and visit her and see what she has to offer, Visit her at Kattie tea roses. Tell her Judy Sent you.

I have decided to try to take a little more time on my blog so come visit me often. I plan to share some of the vintage things I have in my home and keep you up to date as to how our shop is coming along, I hope to have it open By June first.

Another Pink Saturday

Well here we are another Pink Saturday of as the old song goes " Another Saturday and I aint got nobody" That the way with the pink, Getting hard to find new pink to post, Got to get moving earlier in the week. This little lady is another from my doll collection. She belonged to my MOM. She is a very old store Mannequin, The size of about a 10 or 12 year old girl. She had a cloth body and rag hair. I have her sitting in a chair in a guest bedroom. I keep thinking she needs new clothes but haven't got around to it yet.

Saturday night at the Auction

There is a wonderful auction house in Richlands Virginia that Darrell and I love to visit when we can. It is about a hour and a half drive from our home. We decided to go this past Saturday. Usually when we are going I give myself a budget that I plan to spend for the evening, Well this week I shot that all to pieces. This is some of the dishes I purchased. Also purchased some furniture but it had to go in storage until spring, We are going to open a shop in the spring so I guess I can use this as an excuse for my purchases. Also found a fabulous rug to go under my dining table. I try not to go but once every couple of month as I would go broke if I went any more often. It is a country auction where the local ladies have a food stand and they sell everything from chicken and dumplings to pinto beans and all kinds of deserts. Is there a better way to spend the evening than a home cooked meal and an auction. They move so fast you can get lost very easy and bid on the wrong item. A true auction is a real experience and a barrel of fun.

Pink Saturday

I found this wonderful vintage ice bucket a couple weeks ago on ebay, It is silver plate and in near to excellent condition. I couldn't wait to paint on it and since I have been painting Hydrangeas, I decided to add this to the stash, I was so pleased with the way it turned out that I just had to share it with you. I painted it white and trimmed with a soft pink and very pale green. Painted the lovely hydrangea design all the way around. I absolutely love it and this one I will have to think about keeping . Would be a wonderful addition to the buffet at your next dinner party. This is the first one I have seen of this design. I love it when I come across something unusual.

Good Morning, Mark this one down, this is my second post this week, I am on a roll so watch out. LOL!

Want to share a couple of beautiful gifts I received for Valentines from two wonderful ladies I have become acquainted with.

The first is from Steph of Angelic accents, She and I have become very good virtual pal over the last year, I have purchased some gorgeous pink lamp shades from her for some of my lamps. She Has been very busy these last couple months with a new grandchild. We know how wonderful that is. She sent me the sweetest little cross stitch and framed valentine and a lovely little heart ornament, I will treasure them always and remember my sweet friend every time i see them. We belong to a wonderful group of ladies called our Romantic homes and my next gift also comes from the same group of ladies.

When I open this one I knew I was in for a treat, We had a valentine exchange in our little group and Miss Vickie was my partner, You can visit her at Visual by Vickie. As you can see each item was wrapped so beautiful.

Among all the goodies are pink Pasta, hot chocolate mix, beautiful pink sachet.

Pink petal for the bath, Wonderful warm pink footie's which I have enjoyed very much. A wonderful little girl ornament.

Red Doilies, and the sweetest little hand made paper doll all dressed in Red. And last but not least my favorite Giradella chocolate with Carmel. What more could a girl want.

I have had so little time this year to post to my blog and I am so sorry. With the sickness of our daughter, Darrell being in the hospital, loosing his brother to a sudden heart attack and now my brother is in the hospital, We have been meeting our self coming and going, Sure hope we get back to normal real soon, Seems like some years get off to a bad start. Hope it is no indication of the whole year.

We have managed to get new items into the web site, We had so many lamps from our hunt in the old house we purchased early last year. At least 500 when we started. Darrell has been working on some of them. Adding new wiring and redesigning some of them. We really have some awesome lamps, Below are just a few we have added in the last few days. Be sure you stop over and take a look. We have something for every decor.

I love painting Hydrangea almost as much as roses. We have had customer requesting more different items this year, The web is so saturated with the hand painted roses, I think they are beginning to want something else. I have been trying to paint hydrangea on different items, These are a few we have listed in the last week or so. Have more in the works and coming real soon. Come by for a look. I have a number of things in the works to blog about over the next few weeks, just hope I can find the time. We have decided to open a little shop here at home. We are going to be remodeling our wood shop to open. Will probably take us a couple months but now that we have decided to go for it I can hardly wait. We still have one 18 wheeler out in front of the shop that is loaded with furniture along with 4 outbuildings full so I will have no problem stocking it and I love going to the auction and this will give me an excuse to buy more which makes a girl happy.

Good Morning! and HAPPY VALENTINES DAY! I hope you have a wonderful day planed with someone you love. Beautiful day here in the mountains, the sun is shining. We have had wonderful weather for the last week and sure hope it continues. Haven't been able to blog for a couple of week and will post more this week to let you in on a couple of things.

Today I decided to show you a beautiful book stand Darrell made me a few years ago to hold my bible. I love it and of course I painted it pink. Not real pleased with the design I put on the top and plan to redo it but just haven't got around to it. And in January he made another one for his brother. It is in beautiful hardwoods.

Good Morning, Hope all is well with you this morning, I thought I would take a little stroll down memory lane and see how many of you also remember these pieces I am showing you. This is called a Rosette and was used in homes years ago. Was mounted on the ceiling or the wall, used a light bulb and had a pull chain to turn it on and off. We had these in our house though not as fancy as this one. I found these in my hunt with the old house. They are porcelain and of course have little pink flowers on them.

I grew up in a family of seven children in the mountains of West Virginia in the same little community I now live in. A Happy home where we all worked in My Dads business and raised a very large garden to help feed our family, Also had farm animals, Cows, hogs and sometimes chickens. I never liked the farm work nor the garden but I am very grateful to my parents now for the way I was taught. We did not have running water nor an inside bathroom. My first bathroom was when Darrell and I married and moved into our first home. I will never forget the way my children reacted when they saw their first outhouse in later years, They called it a little house on the Prairie House as this was the only place they had seen an outhouse. Children today have no idea how easy they have it and most do not appreciate the little things in life such as inside plumbing, turning the faucet on for water or automatic washer and dryer for laundry.
I could go on and on but would be to much for one day. I will share other stories with you later.

The main thing is to know how grateful I am for my Parents and all my brothers and sisters and how grateful I am for the lessons life has taught me.

Back in My Studio at Last

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Back in my studio yesterday for the first time since the middle on November, With all the candy making and the holidays I didn't get to do any painting before the holidays and for the month on January, I have spent my days at the computer getting the website up to date and opening the Etsy Shop. Of all the craft I have worked at in my life, decorative painting is my love. I went to my studio yesterday and it was so relaxing to just sit and paint and forget about everything for a while, I like it best when I am working on something I just want to paint and not on something on order. I completed three pieces yesterday. I am a very fast painter which you have to become if you intend to make money at it.

Darrell has been back in his shop the last couple day also. He loves it as much as I love to Paint. He has been working on a toy box for Madison since before the holidays, It is beautiful and I plan to paint some Faeries on it. I will share it with you when we get it finished. Lamps are one of the things we both love and the two below are made from vintage silver teapots. Darrell does the electrical work and then it is my turn, I painted one of these with soft pink roses and the other with hydrangea , These two designs are my best sellers, The other item is a vintage sewing machine drawer with a beautiful hydrangea design on it. You will find these for sale on my website and also on Etsy.

We got up this morning to an Ice storm which covers the states around us. I guess the best thing about being retired is we do not have to leave the house if we don't choose to. Very few advantages to getting old. LOL! Roads are clear now but suppose to get more tonight and tomorrow.

Pink Saturday

Good Morning,
I am running a little late this morning, Sleep in as I have a slight cold. Sorry for the delay, I have got to learn how to post and have it come up later.

Going to share the two wonderful little ladies in our life. Our Granddaughters, Miranda is our oldest at 15 and belongs to our Daughter Stacey. Madison is the little one at 3 and belongs to our Son Joseph. They are lucky enough to live next door to each other so they are like sisters, Madison calls Miranda Sis. She of course wants to do everything Miranda does, When they were all home for Christmas they were clowning around for pictures and thought I would share them with you and Madison is trying to do just what Miranda does.

Also to let you know Darrell is doing fine after having the heart stint. Just resting and is in the shop a little so getting back to normal. Thank You God for our Blessings.

Just a little News

So sorry I missed Pink Saturday this week. Had a health emergency with my Hubby. As I have let you know before we live out in the country, pretty far from everything, About 100 miles from our doctors and hospital. On Friday, He came in after going to the Barber with slight chest pain, After a while and a couple baby aspirin I decided to check his blood pressure and it was very high, 190 over 112, he never has blood pressure problems, I told him to get ready as we were going the 100 miles to the hospital. Stopped at a local clinic for her to get his pressure and it was high, she gave him aspirin and told me to take him on. When we got there they put him in the trauma unit, EKG was normal. Blood test showed heart enzymes high so they admitted him, Saturday morning had a heart cath and had to have a stint in for a 95% blockage, This makes him four stints, We have been so lucky and every time got him to the hospital before a heart attack so no damage to the heart. God is so Good to us. We are back home now. He has lung disease so I worry so much about any surgery he may have as it would be hard on his lungs.
Hope to be back in the grove for next Saturday.

My Lollishop is OPEN

I am here to tell you I have been at this "puter" so much this month that I think my But is Glued to the seat, I have added over 50 new items to my website, about 20 items into Etsy and TODAY I got my lollishop open. Just click on the lollishop picture on the left and it will take you right over for a look and great shopping. The items below are some of what I got listed today. I decided to go with the fanciful creations from our studio for now. Wonderful gifts for Valentines Day, which is so close you can touch it. Between all my shops I have hundries more items to get listed in the coming weeks.

For a little update from the mountains, it is blue cold here right now. So glad to be in the house where it is warm, Darrell had some minor surgery this month so has been recuperating very nicely and is back in the shop today. He was working on a toy box for Madison before Christmas to go with her table and chairs, We plan to visit Tennessee the first week of Feb. and want to take it to her. Will share it with you when finished, I plan to paint it to match the table.

Hope you are staying in where it is warm, This is one of the times I am glad Darrell is retired and doesn't have to get out in the cold, There is a little advantage to getting old. LOL! BUT!

Early Pink Saturday Jan 10

Hey! I decided to post a little early this week. Got so much going on and have a few minutes tonight. This has been one fast week, Darrell had some minor surgery to repair some damage that was done to his nose as a child so we spent the day on Tuesday at the Hospital and back today for a check up. As I have told you before we live really out in the country, so we are about 100 miles from the hospital and our Doctors so when we have to go it takes a whole day. You just learn to deal with it . We do live in "Almost Heaven" LOL!

I spent the rest of the time this week getting my shop opened on Etsy and joined a couple more chat groups to network. Anyone who doesn't do the website or is on the computer would believe all the time it takes to get it all done, It is very hard to find time to work on product. You all know what I am talking about.

This first picture is just a few of the items we have been adding to the website in the new year, so much more to come.

We have had a wonderful jeweler to join us, For now we will be featuring her custom designed watches, We will be adding these to our sites this week. Some wonderful designs and of Course Pink. We will add more of her work as the weeks pass. Come check it out.

This last picture is a beautiful vintage tea service we have hand painted with gorgeous pink roses. I have a real hard time finding complete sets in great condition. This is the first one I have had in a while.

First Pink Saturday of 2009

Good Morning,

Sure glad to return to Pink Saturday, have been to busy the last couple weeks to get in.

Hope you had a wonderful holiday, Our was wonderful, big family and all. Usually people get to slow down in January but for me it is just as busy as before the holidays. Can't wait to get on to new things. Have been working on my website at vintagetochic, open an Etsy store and going to open the Lollishop this week, Be sure and stop in to browse.

Decided my pink this week would be a sweet little table and chairs Darrell and I made for Madison, our granddaughter for Christmas, She is three and this Christmas was amazing for her, and for us to watch her, We have she and Miranda who is 15. They grow up so fast. We decided to make it on the practical side so she can get some good use out of it and then in a few years we will doll it up for her, Drawing is one on her favorite things to do. Later I will share a drawing she gave me for Christmas. Darrell built the set from Oak so it will last for many generations to come. I painted one chair pink and one lavender and did the table to match. On the top I painted her A,B,C, and numbers and of course her name.

Hello to All.

First I want to wish all of you a wonderful and prosperous new year, 2008 has been a wonderful year for my family and I know 2009 will be even better, I never understand why some people get so down when the new year rolls around, For me it is a wonderful new start.

I always have so many new ideals rolling around in my head and can't wait to get them started.

Darrell and I usually plan a home project for the first couple of month and this year is no different, We are planning to paint and redo a couple of bedrooms. Will let you follow along with us.

This was my first year to blog and to join chat groups on line and I must tell you it has been amazing, I have made many wonderful new virtual friends and love conversing with all of you and taking a little glimpse into each others homes.

The gifts below are from some great friends and fellow bloggers. I love each piece and will enjoy them for years to come.

This first group of goodies came from Melissa in ID. She was my swap partner in the Snowflakes and Sparkles Swap. I love it all. Her blog is melissabuford.typrpad.com

This vision of pink came from Cami in Texas, She was my partner in the Vintage Christmas Swap. Received a beautiful set of pink dinner napkins in this group and in another swap I got a set of napkin rings that match perfectly.

All these goodies, and of course in pink Came from Victoria who was my partner in our Shabby Lane Swap. A wonderful group of sellers. Beautiful and the sachet smells wonderful. A gorgeous addition to my bathroom.

This one Came form Louise in NM. She sent me the wonderful napkin rings. Also in this group I got the most beautiful Christmas Banner and Darrell packed it away in our Christmas decoration before I got a picture, I will treasure it for years to come and think of her each time I get it out.

This group of goodies came from our PRH group. A wonderful group of ladies I have become acquainted with this year and enjoy chatting with. I was even able to meet 2 of them ( Shirl and Jen) who also live in West Virginia. It is great to be able to put a face with someone you have met on line. Steph sent me the beautiful frame and Christmas ornaments, Katie sent me a hand painted book marker that is perfect for my bible, A beautiful pair of earrings from Lorena,

The sweetest little jingle bell rock from Vickie, and a beautiful little Victorian calender from Karen. I sure hope I have not forgotten anyone.

Going to spend the next few days working on the puter and getting my website up dated and new merchandise on.

Christmas Decorations

Got a few minutes this evening to post and show you a little of our home decorations. There are to many pictures to list them separately so I just put them in a slide show and will leave it up for a month or so. I finished the candy making today and made a couple batches of cookies this evening. Have 11 cakes to bake Monday and Tuesday for customers. It's a good thing I love to cook.
Shopping is all finished, packages are wrapped and now awaiting the arrival of our children. Darrell is going to Tennessee tomorrow to pick up our daughter and two granddaughters, Our son Joe and his wife Michelle will be home late on Christmas Eve, so we will all be together for Christmas Morning. Our youngest Madison is three and this will be the fun, To see Christmas through the eyes of a child is so wonderful. She is so excited, The other is 15 and she still loves it just as much.
We will have Christmas with all of our large extended family.

I hope you have the most wonderful holiday with family and friends and remember the reason for the season. Celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior.

I am looking forward to the new year, have so many great ideals in the works for the web site and can't wait to get started. I never understood people who get depressed in the beginning month of the year, I am always excited for new things to begin.

Pink Saturday, Better late than never

I am so sorry to be so late posting today, I promise to get back on track after the holidays, I have been so busy making candy, Had one lady to pick up today and she had over 75lbs of candy in gift boxes for an employee Christmas Party tonight. Glad to have that order finished,

Since it is Christmas I am going to share a very special decoration with you today. I inherited this awesome nativity from my Mom. She purchased it about 25 years ago and each piece has been hand painted and embellished with fabric and jewels, The pictures do not do it justice. Was made be a ceramist in Huntington, WV. I treasure it so much and enjoy it so I leave it out all year around. Right now I have it in a garden window in my family room.

wonderful family game for Christmas

Really want to share this Christmas game with you. We have so much fun with it. As I have told you before I have a big family with 4 brothers and 2 sisters and we all live close to each other. We are most always together for the Christmas holidays, With all the neices, nephews, spouses and children there are about 40 of up when we are all together, We discovered this game a few years ago. We have all been so blessed in our life and as we grew so large we decided to stop the gift thing some years ago. Just buy for the little children now so this game has worked out great,
We start by each person bringing a $10.00 gift, and trying to see how creative you can get with $10.00. Last year I went to the dollar store and bought $10.00 worth of potted meat and it is 3 for 1.00, you can count. My daughter wrapped $10.00 worth of pennies in a ball of tape. I could go on and on but the more creative you get the more fun. All the gifts are wrapped. You stand in a circle and read the story (below) and follow the directions, The gift you have when the story is over is yours. I promise you will laugh so hard and have a ball.

To play the game have your players stand in a circle. Each will have a wrapped gift. As you read the story they pass the gift each time the word WRIGHT, ( PASS RIGHT) OR LEFT (PASS LEFT) is spoken. At the end of the story the gift you are holding is yours.

CHRISTMAS WITH THE WRIGHT FAMILY
Christmas is almost here and mother WRIGHT was finishing her Christmas Baking.
Father WRIGHT , Susan WRIGHT and Billy WRIGHT returned from last minute Christmas
errands.
There’s not much LEFT to be done. Said Father WRIGHT as he came into the kitchen.
Did you leave the basket of food at church? Asked Mother WRIGHT.
I LEFT it RIGHT where you told me to, said Father WRIGHT.
I am glad my shopping is done said Billy WRIGHT. I don’t have any money LEFT.
The hall phone rang and Susan WRIGHT LEFT to answer it. She rushed back and told the family that Aunt Tilly WRIGHT LEFT a package for us RIGHT on Grandma WRIGHTS porch.
I’ll go over there RIGHT now and get it, she said as she LEFT in a rush.
Father WRIGHT LEFT the kitchen and brought in the Christmas tree. By the time Susan WRIGHT returned Mother WRIGHT, Father WRIGHT and Billy WRIGHT had begun trimming the tree. The entire WRIGHT family sang Christmas Carols as they finished decorating. Then they LEFT all the presents under the tree and went to bed, hoping they has selected the RIGHT gift for their family. Now I hope you have the RIGHT gift for yourself because that is all that is LEFT of my story except to wish you a Merry Christmas. Isn’t that RIGHT.

Come visit the Craft Fair

Well the show was a bust over the weekend, We did not have very many people to come out on Friday night and then we got up on Saturday to a snow and ice storm so that killed the day for Saturday. If things go as planned this was my last show ever. After 30 years of traveling all up and down the east coast I am ready to park the trailer and stay at home. I still love my work as much as ever just don't enjoy loading to travel and setting the shows up anymore.

These are some pictures of my booth and the one next to me. It was all Christmas and beautiful, I purchased a couple of painted gourds from this lady and they are awesome, I will share them with you later in the week. Also will get more of my Christmas decorations on so come visit me. I love seeing how people decorate there homes and especially at Christmas, I could really be a good peeping Tom just to look at the decorations in a home. Strange, I know.

I am into the candy making big time from now until Christmas, Have 50 lbs to make and gift box for one lady, She is using then for table favors at her Employee Christmas Party. I could use some help if there are any voluntiers.

Last show of the year, THANK GOODNESS

It has been real hard finding the time to post here on my blog for the last couple of month. When you are in the craft business most of your money is made in the holiday season, just like the stores so makes it hard to get anything else done.
Along with my web site, the shows, having a home baking business and teaching candy making class I have been a busy lady. Will crash in January and rest a while.
Had another candy class last night for 10 ladies. Lots of fun and work.

Leaving today for our last show of the season, Will spend the weekend in Huntington WV. with the Lions Club Show. Return home on Monday. If you are in the area be sure to come visit us.

I have found a little time the last few day to start putting up my Christmas decorations, With the help of my dear sweet hubby. Wouldn't know what to do without him. So funny, as he is retired from his work and now when people ask him what he does he tells them he works for me.
I love being his boss. LOL!
Will share My decorations with you in the coming weeks, Starting with a couple today.

This set of Christmas Geese, I painted for my Mom about 20 years ago. She loved them, and every year when I get them out I have lots of memories. As I have told you before I have a big family and Christmas was my Moms favorite holiday, We were always at her house to celebrate.

When My first grandchild, which would be Miranda, was born I started to decorate more. She always loved the animated pieces, This little Mickey Mouse is electric and his arms move. My other granddaughter Madison if three this year so I can't wait for her to see all the decorations. The other snowman I purchased at a show a few years ago from a lady who works with chenille.

I love him, made from a vintage chenille bedspread and has lights in the tree. I will see her this weekend at the show so maybe I will get a new piece.

I promise I will try to post more often so come visit and I will share my holiday season with you.

Pink Saturday

Good Morning,
I got so busy with decorating the house and packing boxes to ship this morning that I completely forgot it is Saturday. The holidays does strange and wonderful things to us. The next few weeks I will share my Holiday decorations with you and today I will start with these sweet snowman ornaments we make to sell. This little fellow is made from an egg gourd. The nose is dimensional. He is a sweetie and comes in different sizes, For sale at vintagetochic.

These are painted on the round glass ornaments.
This is one of my favorite things to paint, It is a vintage ice skate and Darrell has made a base for it to sit in and of course it has pink roses painted all over it.

Happy Thanksgiving

Thought I would take a break from baking and come in to wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving, I have been so busy this week, after getting back home from the craft show on Sunday Night. The days get so hectic as the holidays approach. I have spent the day baking cakes and making bread, Don't make bread to often as it is really a chore. Hope it turns out ok.

We are spending the day tomorrow at my brothers house for dinner, My children can't make it home this year, My son works for Walmart in management and as you know they have no holidays. Not good for the rest of the family. My Daughter and granddaughter are traveling this weekend so they won't make it home either, We are always together for Christmas, either they come home or we visit their house, Will spend the day with 5 of my brothers and sisters and parts of their families.

And I may be crazy but I am going to get up early Friday Morning and hit some stores to do a little shopping. Not looking for anything in particular so isn't to bad.

Craft Show this weekend

We are leaving today to work a craft fair for the weekend, Will be in Charleston West Virginia for the annual Capital City arts and craft fair. Show has been going on for about 30 years or more, We worked it for about 15 years and then stopped for a few years, Decided to return this year since we did not do the show in Gatlinburg Tn, in October.

This show is run by the Charleston chapter of the Lions Club with is a wonderful group that does a lot of Charity work. Great group of men who are all volunteers run the show. I think we have about 200 exhibitors. We will be open Friday evening, all day Saturday and Sunday.

We live about 100 miles so we will be staying in a motel for the weekend. Decided to travel today as we pull a 16 foot trailer and are suppose to have sleet and snow in the morning, Sure don't want to be on the road with bad weather.

The pictures are from a past show. My website is mostly shabby chic but you can see from the pictures we paint a lot of different items, My booth used to be all holiday items with something for every holiday. We have only worked one show this year and will have one more weekend show for just three this year. The packing and unpacking gets harder as we get older.
Darrell and I were just talking last night of how we use to work the shows and leave one on Sunday and drive all night to get home. No more of those days.

Snow on the Mountain

Our first snow of the year!
Had ladies in last evening for a candy class and by the time we finishes at about 8:30 the ground and the roads were covered with the white stuff . Got up this morning to 33 degrees. To cold for me, It is so wonderful to be inside where it is snug and warm and watch the snow come down. Since Darrell is retired we don't have to worry about getting out on the roads when they have snow and ice but I still worry about all the friends and family who do have to travel. I took these pictures on the front porch this morning to give you a glimpse. We sure don't have winters like we did when we were children and I am glad, It use to snow in November and continue until February, Sometimes having 12 to 15", of course as children we loved this, no school at times and loved playing in it. When our 2 kids were growing up we would go sleigh riding at night with the whole neighborhood, build a bon fire and have a blast, Will have to hunt pictures of that time and share with you.
Going to work in the studio today, Finishing up merchandise for a show this weekend, Hope you are snug and warm where ever you are.

Pink Saturday Rolls Around

Good Morning from the mountains,
Sure is dreary here this morning, Rained most of the night and is supposed to be in the 30ies for the next few day, guess that is to be expected as we are in our winter months. Really can't complain as we have had beautiful weather the last few weeks,

Walking around my house last night looking for something for Pink Saturday and had totally forgot about this beautiful quilt, It hangs on a stand in a guest bedroom. It is gorgeous, hand quilted , all silk fabrics and a star pattern, My Mother had a best friend who passed away in the early 80ies and she left this quilt to My Mom. It had been given to her as a gift many years before, I think it is about 40 years old, I inherited it when My Mom passed in 1993, I treasure it, My Mom was very special to me and passed away after a long illness just one week before my first granddaughter was born, I have always told Miranda that Mom is her guardian angel.

Good Morning,

Our weather is very chilly here in the mountains now, The winter season has begun and the snow is just around the corner which I do not look forward to. The only time I want to see it snow is Christmas Eve when we are all snuggled in and partying inside, Something magical about snow on Christmas Eve.
OK! on to the pink, I had another plan for today but it got derailed yesterday when we took a trip to a doctors appointment, which we go 100 miles from home and had a car wreck on our way home. A young lady of only 17 years old came from a parking lot and smashed into the right side of our Yukon. No injuries thank goodness but delayed our return home. She was so upset and all she could say was my parents will kill me, Remember this, We have all been there, either our self or with our children. So I will save my new post for next Saturday and just show you a few of my favorite things,

This one is a vintage kerosene heater, We have a very hard time finding these, Darrell takes all the insides out this and wires it for a lamp. I painted this one white and added a beautiful design of roses all the way around. It is awesome when lit as it cast a glow on the floor through the cut work. Watch the web site for the next one we will have.

This in one of my favorite pink santas that I use for decorating esch year. Will soon be time to start the holiday decorating.

As the holiday season grown near my candy making kicks into full swing, Usually make somewhere between 40 and 50 pounds of different candies for the holidays, Today I am sharing these delicious PINK coconut bon bons with you. So wonderful and simple to make so I will share the recipe you you. Have any questions just let me know.

2 CUPS DRY COCONUT, (usually purchased in a candy supply shop)
½ cup regular coconut
3/4 CUP HOT LIGHT KARO SYRUP. DO NOT BOIL

PUT YOUR COCONUT IN A BOWL. HEAT KARO JUST UNTIL HOT.( do not boil) MIX TOGETHER AND LET COOL. EITHER PUT IN THE REFRIGERATOR FOR A WHILE OR LET SET FOR A FEW HOURS. DAMPEN YOUR HANDS WITH WATER AND ROLL COCONUT INTO BALLS AND PUT ON CLEAN WAX PAPER. MELT ANY COLOR OF CHOCOLATE (PINK, GREEN, WHITE AND ETC) DIP COCONUT BALL IN CHOC. AND PUT ON WAX PAPER TO DRY.

YOU CAN ADD CHOPPED ALMONDS TO COCONUT MIXTURE AND DIP IN MILK CHOC. AND YOU WILL HAVE AN ALMOND JOY. DIP IN DARK CHOC. AND YOU WILL HAVE A MOUNDS BAR.

Candy Class

Wanted to let you take a little peak at a Candy making class we has last evening. I had a retail shop for 12 years in the 80ies and early 90ies and candy supplies was our main business, I taught classes 2 or 3 day a week during the fall and winter. When I closed my shop my sister took over the selling of supplies in her general merchandise store. I have continued to make candy every years for the holidays for family and friends, Decided this year to teach again, We had a class yesterday and I thought I would share with you. Had 12 ladies to join us and we had a great class. Making candy and enjoying company.

We made:
chocolate covered cherries
peppermint patties
maple nut
cocoanut bon bons
turtles
resses cups
smoothies
choc, Carmel and nut pretzels
and learned to use choc. molds.

We are going to meet again next Monday to make Carmel, nut and choc, apples. and choc. and peanut butter fudge.

If any of you ladies would like the recipes we use just let me know and I will email them to you direct.
The first two picture shows the set up before we got started, and the others show all the fun we had. Forgot to take a picture after we did all the choc. dipping. Will try to get it next time.

Good Morning, Hope you all have had a wonderful week, We are quickly approaching winter here in the mountains, Has been cold and rainy the last few days, I don't mind the cold but I DO NOT like the snow to be so much I can't get out. Lets hope for a very mild winter.

It is getting harder each week to stay with the pink but thought I would share a few more of my dolls with you. My favorite ones are the Victorian Ladies and the most special one I have you will see today. On to the show:

This beautiful Victorian Lady and her daughter have been in my collection for about 15 years, She comes from the Franklin Mint, Stands about 20" tall. Has a Gibson girl hair do. Guess they are ready for a party.

This Beautiful Victorian Lady is from the same series, Can you imagine being dressed this way with a baby, Guess she is ready for the party and the Nanny will be keeping the little one. She to is about 20" tall and of course dressed in Pink.

This is the most special doll in my collection, It is also from the Franklin Mint. Jesus spending time with the children of the world. We try so hard to teach out children the wonderful thing about our Lord and Savior. I have had this one for about 12 years and he hold a special place in my home.

Almost Heaven, West Virginia

Can you hear me singing? Almost Heavennnnnnnnn, West Virginiaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa,
Took a little ride down to the lake yesterday evening to get a few pictures to share our fall season with you. We are only about 1/2 mile from the R.D. Bailey lake, Was built for flood control and gives our little neighborhood a lot of recreation.
The leaves still don't have a lot of color so I will plan to go back in a couple weeks and take the same shots for you again so you can compare. It is wonderful to see the different parts of our glorious Country. Be sure and share yours with us.

I have shared a lot of the painting we do in our studio with you over the weeks. We work in a lot of different mediums so thought this week I would share a little of the altered art designs we make.

This first one is a vintage ladies Victorian shoe. We have covered it with vintage lace, ribbons and flowers. I love these. My first one was from my Mom and one she had worn as a young lady. I have it on display in my home.

This piece is a large hat box. We have decorated her with the bust of a beautiful porcelain doll which I purchase from a lady in Canada, She is surrounded with Roses, vintage lace, ribbons and more.
This one is a Vintage Church Hymnal, Decorated the same way.
This is a large strawberry sachet, filled with lavender, great to hand on a door knob or your bed post.
This one is a sweet little decorated hand mirror to use in your bedroom or bath.

Hey!

Welcome to another pink Saturday, Can't remember how many weeks this makes us but sure are amazed at how many ladies we have had to join, Won't keep you long as you got a lot to visit, Just click on the little lady to the left and it will take you over to visit Beverly and from her you can visit all the other blogs and see all the pink goodies and let everyone know you were by for a visit.

My post today is not all pink, I am running out of pink like a lot of others so just thought I would share. I have had this dresser for months to work on for an Aunt of mine and I finally finished it today, She wanted something besides roses on it so I decided to paint soft pastel Hydrangeas, As usual I forgot to take a before picture. Sure hope you like it.

This next piece is a creation from out wood shop. I love lace table cloths and have so many, I wanted some way to store them and also to enjoy so Darrell made me a stand for them. He took a stand we make for quilts and cut it down in size to hold my tablecloths, Can also be used in the bathroom to hold towels. I finished this one this week and it will be for sale on my web site. Hope you like it.

Hard at Work

Hi, As you can see from my post It is very hard fro me to get to a daily post. I stay so busy, with working on merchandise for my web site, getting ready for a couple fall Craft fairs and all the puter stuff you have to do to run a web site I really fill like I meet myself coming and going. Have been working on lamps along with a few other things this week. Thought I would share a few of them with you. We found some of the most amazing small table lamps in our hunt through the old house. Darrell and I decided to turn them into candle lamps, He added new wiring to each one. The first one I added a beautiful purple feather shade I got from a blogger friend, Stephanie, I think is is really shabby and awesome.

This one I added the little pink beaded shade to that I also got from Steph. Included the extra beaded cover on it.
This is a beautiful vintage china plate that we added a glass pedestal and cover to.
This is the same but for all you lovers of black. You can find all of these items on my web site.
Got another wonderful new piece I will wait for Pink Saturday to share with you.
Our fall is just about in full swing in the mountains, My deck is covered with leaves. To much work to blow it off every day. Time to bring my plants inside and cover the deck furniture. I love it when we first turn the heat on for the season and it is so toasty in the house, A kettle of Vegetable soup and I am in heaven.

Good Morning,
We all have so many blogs to visit today so I won't keep you long. A couple months ago I had this little piece on my blogs as a What Is It. I found it in my hunt in the old house and had no idea what it was, Well the world responded and it turned out to be a drink dispenser. Not what I needed so I decided to paint it Pink, of course, and turn it into a lotion or soap dispenser. It turned out beautiful and I love it. It will be for sale on my Web site.

I have been in the studio this week getting a little painting done. This beautiful piece is a cake carrier I finished this week. You have to See This

When I walked out of the house this morning and saw this beautiful site I knew I had to get the camera and share it with you. We had rain last night and this morning so the water on the web made it show up so well. Standing on my front porch this tall pine tree is about 25 feet out in my yard. The spider had spun this awesome site off the tree but it looks like it is just hanging in mid air. It is about 3' across. The building behind it is a least 100 feet away, even though is looks as thought it is right behind the web. I hope I have explained it correctly. Our weather has been in the 50ies this week and we have the heat on.
I love it when it first gets cold enough to turn the heat on as the house feels so toasty. And even better I have beef stew in the crock pot today and the house smells wonderful. Going to make some corn muffins to go with it. Can't wait for supper. Hope you are enjoying your day as much as I am.

I am back to painting in my studio and working on new items. This is a beautiful Victorian lady Darrell made for me some months ago. She will have a prominent place in my dining room for now and I painted one to sell on vintagetochic. Took many hours so there will be very few of them painted. Hope you like her.

As I told you a couple week ago I purchased these awesome little shades from Stephanie a blogger friend, Today I decided to see what they would look like if I added them to the chandelier over my dining table. I loved the look so I will be keeping it for a while.

Fall is for Apples and Pumpkins

Fall is getting a good start in the mountains and the new crop of apples and Pumpkins are in. My brother brought me a box of fresh apples this week. I peeled and cooked them and made fried apple pies which we have enjoyed for the last few days. So delicious. Thought I would share a couple of our favorite recipes with you using apples and Pumpkins. The first is a fresh apple cake recipe I have had for close to 40 years but still one I am ask for the recipe every time I take it to a social. Be sure you try it and let me know how you like it.

OLD FASHION APPLE CAKE
1 cup salad oil ,
2 eggs
2 cups sugar
2 ½ cups cake flour
1 tsp. Soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp. Cinnamon
1 tsp baking powder
1 cup pecans or walnuts
3 cups sour cooking apples,(chopped)
6 oz. Butterscotch chips
In a large bowl mix well, salad oil, eggs and sugar. Stir in dry ingredients.
Mixture will be stiff. Stir in apples and nuts. Press into a greased 9x13 inch
pan. Sprinkle butterscotch chips on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 55 to 60 min.
For best results bake one day before serving.

The next is a wonderful Pumpkin Roll. Be sure and let me know how you like it.

PUMPKIN CAKE ROLL
3 EGGS

1 CUP SUGAR
2/3 CUP PUMPKIN

1 TSP LEMON JUICE
¾ CUP FLOUR

1 TSP. BAKING POWDER
2 TSP. PUMPKIN SPICE

½ TSP. SALT
1 CUP CHOPPED NUTS
CONFECTIONERY SUGAR
BEAT EGGS HIGH SPEED. BEAT IN SUGAR, PUMPKIN, AND LEMON JUICE.
FOLD IN REMAINING INGRED. EXCEPT CONF. SUGAR.
GREASE A 10X15 JELLY ROLL PAN AND LINE WITH WAXED PAPER. ALSO SPRAY
PAPER. POUR BATTER INTO PAN AND SPREAD. BAKE IN PREHEATED
375 DEGREES OVEN FOR 15 MINUTES. WHEN DONE TURN ONTO A TOWEL THAT HAS BEEN SPRINKLED WITH CONF. SUGAR..REMOVE WAXED PAPER AND
ROLL AS FOR A JELLY ROLL INTO TOWEL. COOL, UNROLL SPREAD FILLING
AND RE ROLL.
FILLING IS CREAM CHEESE ICING

CREAM CHEESE ICING
1 STICK BUTTER MELTED
8 OZ CREAM CHEESE ( ROOM TEMP.)
WITH ELECTRIC MIXER ADD IN ABOUT 1 POUND OF POWDERED SUGAR.
MIX UNTIL SMOOTH.

Trying to catch up

Greeting from the mountains:
I am not sure when I will get back to normal. We are into fall here in the mountains with the mornings and evenings being cooler. We have already had to have the heat on in our house a couple times. Finally got all the goodies we have left from the old house in storage for the winter and the items we are going to be selling on Ebay and the web site organized to be able to work on in the coming months.
We took a few days last week and went to Tennessee to visit our children, Both of our granddaughters had birthdays this month so we had a little celebration.
This will be the first time in 22 years that we will be in our own home for the month of October. We have worked the Gatlinburg Craftsmen Fair for 22 years, With the changes in Darrell's health this year we have decided to sit out for this show. Be sure you stop in to visit the show if you are in the area, You will see some amazing work by some great artist.
We have some wonderful plans for the web site in the coming months. Be sure you come by for a visit.
I will try to share the change of our seasons with you as we go into the fall and winter months. I love the changes, We live in the greatest place when it comes to the weather.

Pink Saturday

Hello from the Mountains,

I am so glad to be able to join all of you for Pink Saturday again. We were just to busy the last couple of weeks for me to spend much time on the puter. We are starting into our fall season and the day are cooler and shorter. I so look forward to the change in our mountains and will share some wonderful pictures with you as they change.

I have two little pink stories to share with you today that mean so much to me. Along with everything else I do I have a home baking business, Baking home made cake, pies and other items for customers in our community. Well for some time I have been debating whether to buy a new mixer or not. A couple weeks ago I got a scratch off card in the mail for Kohls store and to my surprise it was for 30% off. I usually just get the 15% one, so Immediately it gave me the excuse to buy a new mixer. When I went into the store and saw the pink mixer and read about the link it has with breast cancer research I knew it was the one I would buy.

Just this past year I lost a wonderful first cousin to breast cancer and she was just 60 years. She had first found out about her cancer in the year 2000. She went through all the treatments and was cancer free for seven years. She decided to take a family trip to the beach last year in May with her children and grand children, There first, all together in many years. She came through West Virginia to visit us on her way back home to Ohio, She was having some trouble with her back, After returning home she found out her cancer had returned and was in the spine. From there is traveled fast and she passed away a couple days before her birthday in December. Sharon was a wonderful Mother, Wife and Friend. My tribute is to her and she is missed very much by so many of us. My pink Kitchen Aid Mixer is in her honor.

My next tribute is to my wonderful and beautiful Granddaughter Miranda, We all have refrigerator art and mine is one of my most treasured items. The little pink sign hanging on my fridge was a gift from Miranda just last year and that means so much as she gave it to me after she became a teenager, ( we all know how they change as teenagers) She is the joy in our life. She has been raised by her Mom and Darrell and I have helped in every way. She has spent every summer and holidays with us. She is more like a daughter than a granddaughter. We are so proud of the young lady she is becoming. Loves School, and has such a wonderful heart. The little picture above the sign is her at about 4 years old and she was helping my sister to make homemade bread. She loved playing in the dough. She had her 15th birthday just a few days ago. We now have a new Granddaughter, Madison, who belongs to our son. She will be 3 this month. We look forward to watching her grow up as we have done with Miranda, We will be in Tennessee next week to visit them both and to make more great memories.

Back to Normal, ALMOST!

I am so glad to finally get back to some what of a normal day. We have been working on the merchandise from the old house so long I have almost forgot what a normal work day is, Darrell and I have spent this week cleaning up after the sale. We have some goodies left so are packing them in one of the big trailers which we are going to use for storage for the winter and will have another sale in the spring. Our sale was very successful. Wish you could have been here.

We have some of the most amazing small vintage lamps and I wanted to do something special with them. Darrell rewired them with all new wiring and made some into candle lamps. They are absolutely awesome so I wanted to share a few of them with you. You will find some for sale on my website. I have had this beautiful shade for a year or so and purchased it on ebay but don't remember who it was from but I also love it.

Our day are getting cooler and shorter and our leaves are starting to change. I look forward to the fall season. This will be the first time in 22 years I have been home for the month of October to enjoy our mountains. I have worked the Gatlinburg Craftsmen fair for 22 years and spent the month of October in Tenn. I am so excited to just get to hang a fall wreath on our door. My sale from the old House

So Sorry I have not had the time to post for the last couple weeks, But as you all know about the old house, we have been getting ready for our sale and we are now in full swing. We started on Saturday the 31 and will be selling until Monday the 8th. We have had hundreds of shoppers the last few day and have sold so many great pieces. Furniture, Glass, China and so much more. It has over taken in front or our house and shop. We did a lot of advertising so have had people from about a 50 mile radius. I am sure we will have lots left when we finish next Monday as we are still unpacking boxes and our out buildings are full. I think I will set up a booth in an antique mall for a few months. There are a lot of pictures, but I wanted you to get a good look at all the
STUFF. We have sold so many beautiful pieces of furniture, even a lot of the shabby chic, We have 3 absolutely gorgeous Mahogany Dining Tables. These will probably go in the antique mall.

I have missed precipitating in Pink Saturday and will be back in a couple weeks.
I look forward to getting back to the normal and my puter but it will take a while. If you live in our area come by to visit and shop.

Pink Saturday, Better late than never

Well The day is almost gone but as the saying goes "Better late than Never" I had a little emergency this morning and had to be away from home for the day and I have not took the time to learn how to post in advance, I promise I will learn this week, Everything is fine and I am home now. When our seasons start to change and you can fill the fall coming I usually get the Holiday fever, More now than nearer to the Holidays, so my mind turns to the Christmas season which is my favorite time of the year. I have a large family and we have always spent the holidays together, My children now live in Tenn. and last year was only the second time in 38 years we have been away for the Christmas Holiday. When they have to work near the holiday we will now be going to them. Anyway I love to decorate for Christmas so for the Pink Saturday I am going to share a couple of decorations with you.

The first is A Victorian Santa, Of course in pink and Mauve, I have had him for many years and he has sit many different places in my home. He is jointed so you can pose him how you like.

This next beautiful little ornament is covered with clay roses. I purchased it on Ebay last year, don't remember who it was from but I liked it so much I leave it out all year round. I hung it under the chandelier in my dining room.

Hey It's Pink Saturday Again

Good Morning From the Mountains,
Our seasons are ready to change and fall is right around the corner, Our children will start school in a couple week and of course it is foot ball season for the high schools. Mine are long out our of high school but it always brings back good memories.
OK! On to Pink Saturday, I am going to share a few of my favorite things with you.
The first is another Doll from My collection. She is a vintage store mannequin, I inherited her from my MOM, who also was a lover of Dolls and had a wonderful collection. This little lady is about the size of a 10 years old, has a cloth body. she sits in a chair in one of my bedrooms.

This is a beautiful table lamp I painted and decided to keep for myself. It is a vintage brass lamp that I painted white and added a wonderful design of pink roses all the way around. To accent the shade I added a vintage dress collar.
Last winter I got in the mood to do some cross stitching while watching TV at night. I made some pillows for my granddaughters and sold some on my web site. I am so high energy that I can't just sit and watch tv, I need to be doing something with my hands, Some times this is great and some times not. I do get a lot done.
This is a wonderful assortment of sachets that we sold as a Bakers dozen with the stand.

Almost Ready

This Summer has been a real experience for Darrell and I. Sure didn't know how much work we were getting into when we purchased the contents of the old house. Has been hard work but we have had a lot of fun along the way. We got the trucks pulled into our drive the first of the week and Darrell had to build a platform between the two to move the merchandise. The one on the left is loaded to the back as you can see, Everything is ready and we will start tomorrow to unload, move and sort everything on the truck. We are going to have a sale starting the 30th of this month and run for about 10 days. Got a lot to do before then. I will let you see some of the furniture as it comes off the truck. Will be a real job just to match tables with legs. Come by often and see all the fun we will have and If you live close enough to visit, don't forget the sale, We would love to have you visit.

Pink Saturday

Good Morning Ladies:
You can feel the fall here in the mountains, our mornings are chilly, I get more Holiday spirit when this starts to happen than I get in December. I am going to be here at home for October this year for the first time in 22 years, We have worked the Gatlinburg craft fair for 22 years and always there for the whole month of October. I am so looking forward to the change of the leaves in our mountains. I will share them with you this year.
My contribution to pink Saturday will be short and sweet today. You have so many to visit and enjoy. Just click on the little pink lady on the left and it will take you to our Gracious host, Beverly. This beautiful plant has been in my home for 16 years. It is and Angel Wing Begonia, The leaves are shaped like angel wings and the sweet pink flowers hang in pods under the leaves. My Mom passed away 15 years ago this month and this beautiful plant was given to me as a gift when she was sick. She was a bed patient in my home for two years before passing away. I was so blessed to be able, along with my brothers and sisters to take care of her the last years of her life. Each year when this begonia blooms it brings beautiful memories of my Mom, and my first granddaughter was born just one week after my Mother passed. God takes one home and sends us another. Miranda will be 15 years old on Sept. 3rd. I move the begonia indoors for the winter and set it on my porch in the summer. Hope you enjoy your day and have a beautiful memory of your MOM.

Can't believe I am getting to my blog this early in the morning. Got 10,000 things to do today as usual. "SPREAD THE WORD" Our next give away on the web site is up and running. My first chore this morning is to make a run to the grocery store to get a few necessities. I have been cooking and baking for a few ladies in my neighborhood and it is beginning to grow. All I need is another business but I love it. Baking is therapy for me.

At The Auction

If You have never been to an auction it is a real experience. We were there on this past Saturday evening, It is held in Claypool Hill, Va. which is about an hour and 15 minutes from home. They have regular auctions every weekend and once a month they have an antique auction. This was for antiques, They had more than 700 items and it was all sold in about 5 hours. It starts at 5 p.m. You register when you arrive and are given a number and a paddle which has your number on it. Open at 12 noon so you can look over all that is for sale. Every item has a number and you can make a list of the items you are interested in and want to bid on. Auction starts at precisely 5 p.m. and it does not slow down. Many workers on the floor and they move very fast. As soon as one item sells the floor moves to another location, another worker and the sale goes on. You must pay close attention, especially if two item you like are sold one after the other. People are talking all around you and up walking the floor, It is so amazing and fun. You have to watch about even scratching you head as you may be putting in a bid. lol! If you ever get the opportunity you should go at least once.
I had to make myself not bid on anything as I already have so much to take care of now, but I will be returning as I love it.
We sold a few items in this one but left before the auction was over, so will have to wait until I get the papers in the mail to see what they sold for.
They sold some beautiful antique furniture and some that would have been perfect to give the shabby look. I never paint on an antique if it is in great condition as it destroies the value, unless, it is something I really want for my home. Beautiful glassware and dishes, art work, quilts and so much more. The pictures will give you a little look at some of the items. They also sold a Cadalic Car and an Amish Buggy.

Pink Saturday

Good Morning Ladies,
So glad to be back home and to join Pink Saturday again. I didn't get to visit the others last week but do plan to get to as many as I can this Saturday. Be sure you visit and leave a comment. I am sure Beverly did not realize how this would grow when she started. It is really amazing and so enjoyable to see all the post. My hubby has always laughed at me as I love driving through towns at night and getting a glimpse through peoples windows. So interesting to see the difference in decorating. Could call me a peeping Tom I guess. lol!

This week I am sharing a couple of purchases I made at the show last week. Like I need another doll but she was just to gorgeous to pass up and of course in pink. She stands nearly 3 feet tall and is a beautiful Victorian lady with the most wonderful eyes and hair. I purchased her from a doll artist who lives in Maryville, Tenn. She has a new home on a cabinet in my second bathroom. My other purchase was a sweet wreath from Cricket who also live in Maryville. She is an amazing floral artist. Grows all her own flowers and dries them using a commercial freeze dry machine. I also got a fall wreath that I will share later.

I have got to take the time to learn how to post in advance. We are off to Claypool Hill, Virginia today to an antique auction. Will be selling some of the items from my old house so anxious to see what they will bring. The auction will be selling over 600 items this evening. We Have A Winner

We have a winner. Near the end of June we sat up for our next drawing. The entries were made by making a purchase from my web site or leaving a post on my blog. Today I put all the names in the little basket and let a friend draw the winner and she is Lisa from New York. She made a purchase on the web site this month. Congratulations to you, Lisa I will send you an email and as soon as I hear from you, your beautiful basket will be on the way. Last months winner was Birtie and from posting on my blog. We will have our next one up and running in a few days so be sure you post a message to get in on the fun. All the ladies who have left a comment on any of the post since the end of June were entered in the drawing. The sweet basket in the picture is the prize Lisa will receive.

I also want to thank everyone who made a purchase, I am so thankful and amazed at how well the web site is doing. When I started Victoria told me it usually takes about a year to get a good start and this is so true, I was open a year in March and it has really taken off this summer.
Joining Shabby Lane has been a big plus for me and Catherine is on the ball. I don't think I will be traveling to do the shows anymore. I also think with the economy the way it is more people will be shopping from home.

Home at Last and so Glad

Hey!
We arrived home on Monday and so glad. There is no place like home and sleeping in our own bed. Spent yesterday getting every thing sorted and put away and getting my laundry done. Of course the grass is high and Darrell spent the day today working on it. Going to get some mums in the flower boxes for fall. Our little garden is beautiful. Tomatoes are loaded and we have green peppers and cucumbers. We picked green tomatoes before we left and took with us. We had fried green tomatoes at my sons house. We really had a great time visiting with our granddaughters for 2 weeks. Madison will be 3 in Sept. After spending time at her house it is hard for her to understand where Mamaw and Papaw are when we leave.

Now to the show, We have been working this show for about 22 years and it has been going on for 32 years. This was the lowest attendance and sales in the history of the show. This is a tourist town. You could tell the people who were there were having to watch what they were spending. I am hoping the problem was everyone traveling and needing the money for expenses. I think the local shows will be the best this year as people do not have to travel far to get to them and will have more spendable cash. I think there will be more shopping on line until the economy changes, the sales on my web site is really good.

We have decided, due to some health problems for Darrell that we are not going to work any more shows this year, just concentrate on the web site, sorting all the stuff from the old house and selling on ebay. We are listing daily on ebay so be sure you take a took.

Pink Saturday

Hey! I am posting on Friday night for the Pink Saturday. I haven't took the time to figure out how to post in advance. I need to learn to do this but don't have the time right now. I am in Gatlinburg, Tenn. working the craftsmen fair so I am going to share a couple pictures of my booth at I have more pink than anything else. Today was our opening day and we will be in the show for 10 days. I have been working this show for well over 20 years, This will probably be my last year for the summer show. With my web site I have to much to do at home.

First show of the year

The year has passed so fast I can't believe we are ready for our first show of the season. Darrell always jokes that after the fourth of July that we only have two weeks before winter, Sure seems this way. The older we get the faster the time goes by. Can you remember when we were young and in school ( yes it was a long time ago, lol!) we thought the school year would never be over so we could get to the summer. This is a reminder that we have our 40 year class reunion this year, Where did the years go? If our body would just keep up with our mind we would be 21 forever.

We leave tomorrow for Gatlinburg, Tennessee to work our first show of the year, The Gatlinburg Craftsman fair, We have been in this show for well over 20 years, We will open on Friday the 18th and close on Sunday the 27th. If you are visiting the area be sure you come by and visit us. We are in the Gatlinburg Convention Center in town. Our booth is 1212. We will also be there for 18 days in October, This is one of the best quality craft fairs you will find in the country. The promoter is wonderful to work with and keeps a great mix of quality work in the show. Hope to see you there. Just stop by and introduce yourself. We have worked shows up and down the east coast for the past 20 years or so but now only work this one 2 times a year. This may be our last year for it also. Will have to wait and decide.

The other great thing about the show is we will be visiting and staying with our children who live there and our granddaughter Miranda who has been with us since the first of June will be returning home on this trip. We are lucky as our children live bedside each other so we get to visit with everyone at the same time.

Pink Saturday

Good Morning Ladies,

Welcome to my little place in the mountains and to our ever growing pink Saturday. Be sure you stop over and visit with Beverly as we have fifty two participants this week. Visit with as many as you can and leave a note to let them know you stopped by.

As you will see from my post today I am a doll collector and Victorian dolls are some of my Favorites. This cabinet is in my family room and hold some of my favorites ladies.

Hope all of your are having a great summer. Our vegetables are beginning to come forth in our little garden. We have enjoyed cucumbers and a few tomatoes. Nothing taste better than a fresh ripe tomato. Especially with a breakfast of Gravy and biscuits. Come by for breakfast with us and you will see what I mean. Makes me hungry to talk about it, so think I will go to the kitchen and make us a country breakfast this morning. LOL! Enjoy you day.
